500RYT

Jyoti, a registered E-RYT-500, comes to Yoga Loft with experience as a heart-centered teacher spanning over more than four decades. Her yoga journey began as a young teenager fascinated with belief systems and philosophies of the world who dialed in on Eastern traditions and teachings about the Eight Limbs of Yoga. After practicing asana, pranayama and various forms of meditation mostly on her own for a several years, Jyoti met her first great in-person yoga influence and mentor, Nancy Clark of The British Wheel of Yoga and Anahata Centre. Under Nancy’s expert guidance, Jyoti began facilitating classes in 1980. In 1984, Jyoti spent two months in an immersive residential and traditional Eight Limbs Advanced Yoga Teacher training directed by Baba Hari Dass, originally from Haridwar, India, with a team of expert teachers at Mount Madonna Center near Santa Cruz, CA. She continued association and learning with Baba Hari Dass for many years thereafter, as well as continuing her education, to the present, in a variety of contexts with some of the more well-known American yoga teachers. Jyoti delights in sharing the body, mind and spirit benefits of yoga with people of all ages and physical situations in practices encompassing the traditional along with more contemporary styles such as Flow, Gentle and Strong, Yin and Restorative. Jyoti also believes that yoga practice can relate to a total way of being on and off the mat. She always aims to instruct in ways that are both playful and functional. In addition to being a yogi, Jyoti loves spending time in nature and with her family, friends, and of course with Daisy, her miniature black lab.
